There might be a ritual for the "dearly departed"

I have always taken it out for a two week cruise. This way it gets to know how the boat works and get settled in comfortably.

Be sure you follow the directions in your booklet. My just installed a new Volvo last year, and one of the directions was to vary the speed for the for the first 50 hours or so.

As new engines have metal parts that do not get flushed out, change the oil and filter frequently during the first
100 miles or so.

If you want to keep your warantee in place be sure to follow the directions that are posted in your booklet

Are we having fun yet?

Turn key.

If motor starts, check exhaust.

If water is coming out, yell "YAY!" as loud as you can.

Then go sailing, using motor as little as possible.
Fair winds, Neil
