I would appreciate hearing of experiences on best location for batteries.
After installing a heavier 4 stroke engine in the well I am thinking that balance might be better with the batteries further forward.
I realize that hydrogen is an issue but not sure how serious it might be.
It appears an ideal arrangement might be one battery (of course adequately secured) on each side of the holding tank under the v-berth.
I mainly plan to spend several weeks at a time on the boat so adequate electrical storage is desirable. (A solar charger is also in the works.)
Thanks
Jim

CD 25 batteries

Re: CD 25 batteries
I carry two group 27 deep cycle batteries on my CD25 Dauntless. They are mounted on the shelfs inside the lockers, below the bridgedeck. This gets the weight towards the middle of the boat, but also avoids having really long runs for the cables. I have a battery switch mounted above and aft of the ice box below the bridgedeck. It works out well. The best improvement I have made recently was to mount an expanded scale voltmeter next to the fuse panel. With a press of the double throw momentary switch I can get a readout on battery condition without opening the battery boxes. Access is not that easy in the lockers and I think checking and charging under the V berth would be a real pain. Intersting idea though in terms of weight distribution. Good luck whichever way you go. Jerry
