I have not. I went over their application instructions and no mention of the use of flattening agents is noted.

Never hurts to give it a try on a scrap piece of wood.

Just curious, why would you want to flatten the finish? Give it a year or so and it will flatten itself.

Just dont put gloss on, build up extra coats of the base cetol finish, I dont really see what you accomplish otherwise.

Thanks Russell and Tim. It's not for myself, it's for a friend of mine. He doesn't want "gloss" however without the gloss top coat, Cetol will not stand up nearly as long.

That's what I did with my cockpit coaming last year. It looked great, but I might use gloss this season.Russell wrote:Just dont put gloss on, build up extra coats of the base cetol finish, I dont really see what you accomplish otherwise.
I'm a big Cetol fan.

Re: Flattening Agent for Cetol Marine Gloss?
I have friends on the Chesapeake who do that, just extra Cetol Natural and no Gloss, it looks good and its much easier to maintain and repair without the gloss coat. In hind sight, when I saw it, I wished I had gone that route.

Bob,
Have your pal apply the Cetol soon. The pollen is a fine flattening agent. Take my word for it.
Every best wish.

Especially if you store your boat near oak trees--like me.M. R. Bober wrote: The pollen is a fine flattening agent.
