Help! I am co-owner of a Cape Dory 27 built 1978. My partner and I bought this wonderful little sailboat 4 years ago for about $ 19,500.
I am now selling my share to my partner and we are trying to estimate its value. It is simply rigged with minimum sail inventory.(Main, old jib and new genoa). Has recent upgrade of single-handle gear shift/throttle. Has a nice little fireplace inside.
The boat is in very good shape and has had minimum use.
We did a top end rebuild of the Yanmar 9 hp diesel about 21/2 yrs. ago. The teak is all revarnished and we have new teak hatchboards. Fairly recent haulout, with removal of its very few blisters and bottom paint done. Anyone have any thoughts on how I should value my share?
Many thanks.

Re: Cape Dory 27
recently looked at a well-equipped 1980 cd27 in good shape with the original 7 hp and five sails, dodger, anchors, etc for 21,000 so i wouldn't say you have depreciated much in the time since your purchase. what someone will pay for it (like a classic car) goes a long way in determining value.
