NORTHEAST FLEET WINTER MEETING SATURDAY JAN 24th

Post by Dick Kobayashi »

Ahoy! Northeast Fleet Members.

The Northeast Fleet Winter Meeting will be held at Flanders Fish Market in East Lyme, CT.

Date: January 24th

The location and set up will be the same as in recent years.

The speaker will be Markham Starr, a documentary photographer. He’ll share his images and insights into the work and life of Pt. Judith, New Bedford and Stonington fishermen. We share coastal waters with them each summer, and at our Winter Meeting we will learn more about their lives and livelihoods.

A fuller description of Mr Starr's work and registration/location/menu/cost information for this WONDERFUL annual event is available at this link:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/20amrt5gtb2u ... WuE5a?dl=0

This is always a festive, educational and, perhaps most importantly, entertaining event. We need all registrations by January 10th. Please get them in the mail to me asap.

DUES REMINDER: MEMBERS GET A BREAK ON THE LUNCH FEE, SO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP NOW AND GET AN ALMOST IMMEDIATE BENEFIT ON JAN 24th.

A tip of the hat to Dick Bartel and Joe Montana for organizing this event.

I'm looking forward to it!

Dick, are you planning the usual raffle/swap table so we can offload our old excess gear in exchange for new excess gear?

Lynne and I plan to attend ... of course everybody should be warned: As soon as the weather gods realize that the date of the NE Fleet's Winter Meeting has been set, they begin planning for a blizzard. :)

Hey everyone, there will be a great reception at Leo McDonalds, "Lonesome Dove", after the meeting. The tradition of Black and Stormies will carry on!!! And we will all be grateful for Leo's contribution to the Cape Dory organization.

That's great news, Doug. Since Ruth had retired from the B&B business, I wasn't sure if their hospitality was still available.

Everyone in their life has a moment of pure embarrassment. I am not sure there will be a post meeting reception at the "Lonesome Dove". I regret any misunderstandings this may have caused. I am very sorry about this. Doug.

Maybe that will be the worst thing that happens to you over the next year or two. Not to worry.

Hello Captain!

I am looking forward to attending this great event. (bringing my wife/co-Captain)
Had a great time last year rubbing elbows and trading info with fellow CD owners. The knowledgeable CD 25D skippers (especially you and Joe) that I met at that event provided me with some valuable info throughout my first/great season with my newly acquired s/v.
Tons of great food too... looking forward to those dark and stormies... If not at Lonesome Dove, then we will have to make sure they have the right recipe at Flanders. ....

Thanks to you and your team for organizing this.

Just a gentle reminder that the Northeast Fleet Annual Winter Meeting is right around the corner featuring the Nautical Raffle! This is your opportunity to clean your basement, garage, and bookshelf of unwanted sailing related gear. Load your car with FUNCTIONAL new and used sailing related gear, books, and related items. The success of this popular portion of the event relies on the enthusiastic support of the attendees. See you there!
