Thats a bit pricey even for a 25D and if he means $4,500 could be one heck of a deal.

The FMV of well-maintained, Bristol CD 25Ds is well below $45,000 (assuming your post does not contain a typo). You may want to check Yachtworld.com, Sailboatlistings.com, BoatTrader.com, etc. to get an idea on pricing. If you do this, you should also note what extras, upgrades, etc. may (or may not) be on the list of equipment, etc.
Good luck
Fair winds,

Re: 1982 Cape Dory D25
Propping the trailer on jackstands totally seals the deal for me.

This may not be a typo but rather a case of a significant other demanding that the boat be sold.
"Honey, I tried but no one was interested".
That is more in the range of what our boats should sell for, Steve.

Re: 1982 Cape Dory D25

Yes, there was typo in the price in the original post. The 4 in 45,000 should have been a dollar sign. Glad I could provide a laugh to everyone.

William:
Some members of the board can be "a tough crowd" sometimes. I know from personal experience. Sadly, this CDSOA board has had more than its fair share of scam artists. There is a lot of skepticism on the board, sometimes inadvertently misdirected.
As I am sure you know, since your CD 25D has been out of the water for 7 years, the engine will be "suspect". Las Vegas has a pretty dry climate so there should not necessarily be water/mildew issues. Depending on how involved you want to be in the selling process and your experience, you might want to list the sail inventory, any electronics, add-on gauges, etc.
$5,000 for the sailboat and trailer would seem to be a very fair price. Your difficulty may be in getting someone to want a potentially project sailboat and be willing to travel to LV to inspect, etc.
I have a good friend who is retired in LV. It's a beautiful place to live. Expensive but beautiful.
Good luck with your efforts. If you have questions, etc., do not hesitate to post. The members who post have a wealth of knowledge that they share with all of us.

I had a friend at the marina who was under similar pressure. His slip faced the boardwalk and he finally agreed to put a for sale sign on his boat... he faced the sign out to sea, of course.Steve Laume wrote:This may not be a typo but rather a case of a significant other demanding that the boat be sold.
