Yes, I do "know how to service ... [a] wench" but I do not think it appropriate to discuss it on this family oriented discussion board.

Better than most posts on this subject. Usually they're asking about servicing two wenches!
That said, will someone please answer the question.

Alright fine, but it's a LOT more fun to talk about servicing wenches than it is to talk about servicing winches.Neil Gordon wrote:<<Sea Hunt Video wrote:Yes, I do "know how to service ... [a] wench" but I do not think it appropriate to discuss it on this family oriented discussion board.

If you click on the "literature" drop down it should give you a service manual in .pdf format. At least I think so. I am not very computer savvy.
It may not be exactly for your Lewmar 16 but it may be the same procedure, etc., to service the winch.
I just checked the .pdf document. At page 34 it has a full page for servicing the Lewmar 16 along with five (5) color photos
Hope it helps a little.

Re: Lewmar winch
Assuming that you are talking about the main sheet winch on the cabin above the galley, if it is like mine, has to be unmounted. Remove the teak plate in the headliner above the galley to gain access. Once the winch is unmounted, the lower pawls become accessible. A bad design, particularly since Lewmar recommends oiling the pawls every month. What were they thinking?
