cockpit sole

Post by Joe Staples »

I am about to buy a very nice CD25D that has evidence of weakness in the cockpit sole. I have read all the e-mails on the cut out repair but would rather have a teak grate or grid made for the area. Is there any good reason why I shouldn't consider this.
I know the balsa in the core is wet, but where is it going to go or what harm will it cause if it can't get out? The rudder post and the scuppers will be sealed so no more water can get in there.
Looking forward to hearing from the experts. What a great looking boat my wife and I will soon own!

Were it my money. I would arrange to have a qualified marine surveyor look at this boat (actually any boat) BEFORE any contract is signed.
