FWIW, saw a bunch of different original CD brochures on EBay. Just look at the boating section; they're recent posts.
Anybody have a Cape Horn windvane or know someone who has one? I'm looking for some user comments from owners of the external or internal models. Curiously, the literature pushes the Cape Horn as the lowest friction solution, yet a search of our archives shows a prospective buyer that thought otherwise.
tks....

We are researching windvanes [Monitor is the current favorite] and have seen quite a bit of discussion on Monitor, Cape Horn, Flemming, and others on the Seven Seas Cruising Assn. web site discussion board.
I have read there, and elsewhere, that Cape Horns are constructed of inferior stainless, although there are many who have them and would buy them again. Check out the SSCA web site - www.ssca.org - and take time to feed through as there are windvane posts in a couple of different places.

Re: brochures, windvanes
Chuck,
I did extensive research before buying a Monitor and can't express to you just how right a decision it was. On my past 14 month cruise to the Carib and back from Lake Ontario, it had 0 problems in over 10,000 nautical miles.
In addition I met several dockside capt's that had sold off their old windvane and purchased a monitor.
The easiest way to decide is to walk down a dock full of voyagers and you'll see more ScanMar products hanging off sterns than any other.
I do not have any connection with Scanmar, just a satisfied customer.
