Solution for Worn-out Companionway hatch slides

Maybe calling it a "solution" could be a bit premature, but things are looking good.

Like everyone else's, the grooves in my companionway hatch guides/slides wore out on top.
This spring, I took the teak guides off, along with the sea hood.
The grooves in the guides that were under the sea hood are in great shape.
So it looks like I can swap the teak pieces "end for end" and "side to side".
I don't think the screw holes will still line up, but that's not hard to fix.

A "proper, permanent" fix would, of course, involve some sort of more durable channel for the companionway slide to run in.
My best guesses would be epoxy or aluminum? Anybody else fixed this problem?

On Mahalo the teak has a black plastic channel installed in a routed slot. I believe this is original equipment. I'm not sure what plastic it is maybe delrin.

That would certainly be better. I'll call Spartan, and see if they can help

I asked him about how he redid his hatch slides and he got new teak, then routed out a slot in the teack to put UHMW, and then with a slot in the UHMW (maybe not in that order though) for the hatch to slide back and forth. Looks like a great solution.
