Hi All -
I am looking for a new oil pan for a Universal M-30 / 5424. It is a Kubota clock (I believe 1100 series although I am not sure which). In any event, these dastardly water pumps have finally taken out my pan and it needs replacing before something bad happens. Any sources, suggestions, pointers or comments are appreciated. Thanks! Hope everyone is enjoying lots of time on the water!

Hope this helps. I share your frustration with deteriorating engine components. Last week, preparing to leave slip for the first outing of the season, I found water spraying out of the exhaust pipe at the injection elbow, so I, too, have been combing the web for parts this week.

Hello,
Hansen Marine should have the water injection elbow; they are expensive.

Brian:
I got the elbow from Hansen yesterday for about $63, which I don't think is all that bad. I also bought a replacement exhaust flange from them, since I doubt I can disassemble the old one without destroying the threads. This all assumes that I can successfully remove the old flange without breaking a stud, which would probably necessitate engine removal. The real trick was finding a 1 5/8 ID silicone hump hose for connection to the muffler, which these days apparently is only available from Catalina Direct. With any luck I will get it all installed next weekend.

Wow! You got a deal on the elbow. I think mine was $150, and that was eight years ago. Of course, that may have been for everything: elbow, flange, and gasket. I didn't break a stud. The nuts turned off two of them, and the third one the stud came out as well. Pre-treat with a penetrating oil and let sit for a day or so. Then I held a wrench on the nuts while my dad tap, tap, tapped the wrench with a small hammer.
I found it easiest on my 28 to remove the nuts/studs, loosen and remove the muffler from the incoming hose, and pry off the flange and remove the flange/pipe/elbow as one piece, then put it all back together off the boat. Once the elbow/flange/hose was bolted back on the engine, the muffler (Vernalift) slid back onto/up the exhaust hose. On my 28, I only had about 6" of exhaust hose going into the muffler down from the elbow, and it wouldn't have been possible to mount the flange/elbow/pipe/hose and then bend the hose onto the muffler, as there wasn't enough play.
