We are moving on to a Catamaran !!!!! Gemini 105 mc. I've always wanted a at so last year we chartered a Cat in the Abacos. It was a french Fontain Mahe 36…awesome boat but hard to find on the East coast, plenty in the Med.
I found this Gemini a 2010 boat at a great price. Very excited !!!!!

Well now that takes moving over to a brand X or the dark side to a whole new level. Glad to hear you will still be sailing and fast. I have not been aboard too many cats but people seem to love them for cruising, especially in skinny waters. Lots of room and not much draft. Congratulations, Steve.

Ya very exciting the speed is great !!!!!! and the comfort is wonderful. Nice stable platform. Eventually we'll sail to the Bahamas and be based in the Abacos !!!!!

That boat is like two CD-30s with no teak. You truly could be comfortable with six people aboard. Running it up onto the beach or in water shallow enough to walk ashore is pretty cool. Does it have even have center boards? Kind of the perfect Bahamas boat. Lots of shade and open deck space. Built in swim platforms and enough stowage room for all your toys. You will be sailing right over stuff that would give ya heart failure in a keel boat.
Sounds like you have a great plan. You might need some crew to get her down there though, unless she is already there. It certainly isn't your grandfather's boat but absolutely perfect for your plans, Steve.

It is the perfect boat for us at this time of life !!! She has two centerboards they are about 5 feet deep, great for upwind sailing. It has one engine centered with a sail drive, with centerboards and sail drive up she draws 18"..…Ha…..

For those who may be interested, I've been aboard Machts Nichts numerous times. Cap'n Heintz keeps the boat in great condition. The CD30 MKII is a FABULOUS design and if I were looking for a boat right now I'd jump on this.
