Ty Day Sailor Jib Measurements

Post by mainecoast »

I have a Cape Dory 19 Ty Day Sailor with a 130% genoa. I am thinking about having a jib made. Does anyone have the leach, luff and foot dimensions for the jib?

Check on Sailrite's website. Also, which model do you have? the open cockpit has a self tending jib.

Thanks---I have checked Sailrite's site and didn't see it there. I have the day sailor with the 8 foot cockpit and the small cuddy. I have not seen any evidence of a self tending jib, at least on my boat.

Hi Ralph, the details listed in my 1983 manual has the daysailer jib measurements as: J=7' 0" and I= 22' 1". However, I am certain that any established sail maker would be able to confirm the correct size for a Cape Dory Typhoon Daysailer.

I have used Sail Care to service my sails and also had a new mainsail made in 2007 for $283. They are in PA and for more information www.sailcare.com.

I have also used Bayview Rigging and Sails, Inc in Yarmouth, ME for repairs and they also converted a hank-on 150% genoa into a furling genny with the sun cover for my weekender. Jan, the owner is a sailor and very easy to deal with, and has worked on repairs quickly for me.

Thanks Ron. I used Sailcare a few years ago for a new genoa and have been in contact with Jerry for the new jib. I had already passed those measurements on to him. I just thought that if anyone had access to a jib, they could take the actual measurements from it.
