"Vahevala" came out last Saturday and is "on the hard", as they say. The day was more like the "Keystone Cops" then an organized event. Ran aground twice trying to get to the boat landing where my marine service said there was no depth problem. Luckily the bottom was VERY soft mud. Got pulled off by a passing fishing boat on the first grounding. The service guy had to row out with a line on #2 grounding.
On top of that my outboard (brand new Yamaha 4 HP 4 stroke) lost its reverse restraining pin so every time I tried to back up, the prop jumped out of the water. The only way I could get any resemblance to reverse was to sit on the motor to keep it from jumping out. So here I was with a strong cross wind opposed to the running tide looking to land on a trailer. Finally (this is the end of the story) when I was coming into the trailer I ended up having to jump in the water, up to my chest, to keep from ramming the trailer. I left a little bottom paint on the trailer tires but I figured I got away lucky.
We all have our stories, this one will be mine. Luckily with this one there was no damage and the marine service operator and I had a good laugh.
All well that ends well. Sort of !!!
