Fellow CD-36 owners I am looking for help. I'm in the planning process of adding an electric windlass on Journey's End and I'm trying to decide where to locate it. Between the bowsprite, mooring cleats and staysail boom fitting there isn't a lot of room available.
I'm assuming it should be in line with the starboard anchor roller and naturally over the locker below but this would put it on top of the bowsprite. I'm not crazy abut cutting a hole through the bowspite. The underside of the bowsprite is not flush with the deck and I'm afraid of leaks.
Instead, I'm thinking of offsetting it to the starboard side of the bowsprite and mounting it on a teak pad slightly above the level of the bowsprite. I think this would work but before I cut any holes let me seek the advice of this board.
Thanks in advance,
Mike Thorpe
