Dave & Jane,
When I launch my CD22 I loosen the set screws on the rear pads and lower them as far as they will go. It works pretty well. Just make sure the swivel bolts on all four pads are tight enough to to prevent the pads from swiveling or they may end up edge wise on your hull.

My wife and I have trailered a 25D for approximately 12 years to both Coasts and Mexico. we use travel lifts and float off ramps. We raise the mast using the trailer winch, a gin pole and a raised stern roller. To float the boat we mounted the spare tire and wheel on a spindle on the trailer tongue, which allows the trailer to easily roll down the ramp to any length using a cable between the truck and trailer. I can give you more deatils if you interested. A sailing friend has a triad trailer and a 25D and has joined us on most of the trips. Jerry and Arlene.

Guys...Thanks for your messages...Here are a couple more for you...Since the boat draws 3.5 feet, how deep do you have to get you boat into the water to float it off? Do either of you have a tongue extension?...How often do you re-pack the wheel bearings?...Is this hard?...How long did it take you to erect the mast, tension the shrouds and bend the sails?...I would love to hear more about the mast hinge that was "privately fabricated"...Thanks again!!!...

I also own a 25D with a triad trailer. Most years, I only trailer to the marina (Lake Pepin, WI) each spring and back to my house each fall. In addition I have trailered to Lake Michigan and Florida for vacations. Our usual drill is to launch the boat ourselves at a deep ramp, but have it hauled out with travel-lift to put it back on the trailer. I think I would consider converting the trailer to bunks, rather than pads, if I was going to haul the boat myself. This would facilitate lining the boat up on the trailer and reduce point loading on the hull (at the front pads) when you inevitably have to winch the boat forward those final few inches. Regarding the trailer, I too have an extension, but I found that I couldn't its full length because it flexed too much. To remedy I drilled new holes to shorten the length used to about 2/3. I also found that the bow pulpit often caught on the winch/bow ladder on the trailer when launching, so I had a welding shop shorten it about 8 inches. Also, keep and eye on the the cross beams of the trailer, the one under my keel cracked in the center and had to be repaired. In 8 years I have repacked wheel bearings twice, but again, my trailer is usually only dunked only once per year in freshwater. Hope this helps.

My trailer came equipped with an extension, but I had to drill a.
