CD 27 Bow Roller Platform Retrofit
Has anyone attempted too retrofit a bowsprit anchor roller platform on a CD27? I have seen a picture of a CD27 that had such a factory installed anchor roller platform. It appears to me that the platform can be retrofitted by removing the six bolts that attach the bronze forestay and chock fitting from the bow of the boat, installing a custom fitted 2" thick Teak platform, and then reattaching the fitting with longer bolts that attach to the backing plate accessible in the chain locker. Am I wrong?

Keep in mind that this will shorten your forestay since the bow chainplate is now 2" higher, if you have more then 2" of space in your turnbuckles, maybe no big deal, but otherwise consider the extra work in shortening the forestay.tmulrane wrote:Has anyone attempted too retrofit a bowsprit anchor roller platform on a CD27? Re: CD 27 Bow Roller Platform Retrofit
Thank you for your comment, Russell. Yes, I have what I believe to be approximately 2.5" left on the forestay turnbuckle. If I can do this retrofit it will be undertaken later this year after the mast has been removed and the boat hauled for the winter. The yard will then readjust the forestay when the mast is reinstalled next Spring.
