1979 Cape Dory 28. Duxbury, MA. Price dropped again.

Post by Stan W. »

Designer: Carl Alberg. LOA: 28’ 2”. LWL: 22’ 3”. Beam: 8’ 11”. Draft: 4’. Displacement: 9,000 lbs. Ballast: 3,500 lbs. Sail Area: 404 sq. ft.

Classic beauty in a full-keel pocket cruiser. Original Volvo diesel with rare fresh water cooling option still runs great. Schaefer roller furling with 135 genoa (2003) in excellent condition. Mainsail (2001) in very good condition. Original self-tacking jib set up also available. First year for updated cabin layout. Sleeps 5 (intheory) on settee berths in main cabin and v-berth in forward cabin. Separate head compartment. Hot and cold pressure water with 60 gallons of tankage. Many extras and upgrades too numerous to list.

She is in good condition overall but could use some attention in a few areas. The berth cushions should be recovered, the toe-rails should be rebedded and the chainplate reinforcements are showing some of the typical corrosion.

In water on mooring in Duxbury. Still time to sail her to her new home this fall.

Asking $14,000 but will consider all serious offers. Would also consider 17'-19' trailer sailer in partial trade.

Call (617) 365-9410 or send me a private message if interested.

Hey Stan

If you'd like another reference for Nonsly's great performance please add my name to the list - should I mention the trophies - though I'm sure they don't go with the boat I'd be glad to relate that Nonsly with you at the helm won your share ( and more ? ) of trophies - very impressive for a full keeled family cruiser :)

Hi Bill. I doubt too many folks are looking to buy a CD28 as a PHRF racer but, yeah, Nonsly has always sailed very well against her handicap.

In any event, she is still for sale. I don't think it makes sense to lower the asking price any more than I already have, but I am eager to sell and will consider any serious offers.

She's going to Marblehead.

Pete, shoot me a private message if you happen to hear of any Typhoon Weekenders for sale on or near the South Shore. The newer and more original the better. Trailer, sails and motor are not critical, but I would like to avoid boats that have been painted, customized, "restored," or otherwise messed with.

Hello Stan, congrats on selling your CD28, she is a beautiful sailboat and she will grace Marblehead's fleet.

Here is a Typhoon seller in Freeport, ME boatyard that specializes in Arlberg designs and has become a favorite of mine. I purchased a used trailer from them a few years back and have followed their inventory of boats. The photo is not the boat he is selling but an example of others he has sold. He has other Alberg boats and has sold many other CDs.

Good luck and if you do not find a Typhoon Weekender in New England then you are not trying hard enough! There are many offered for sale between Maine and RI and should be easy to find if you keep looking in places like craigslist.

Just found this one that is just down the road from you.
