Lake Champlain Float-in 2013 was a great sucess

Post by Doug Jesseman »

Saturday afternoon, August 3rd, 2103, five beautiful Cape Dories at Quaker Smith Bay on Lake Champlain to enjoy each others boats and company, (and dark & stormies.)
Russ Campbell and crew/wife Elaine, arrived on a CD28 named "Charisma". Russ has owned "Chrisma" since 1995 and has sailed her over 12,000 miles
Jim Hyde arrived with his CD 27 named "Vega III", which he has owned since 1993 and sailed more than 8,000 miles. He has sailed on Lake Champlain and the New England coast up to Halifax, N.S. Canada.
Jo Edmundson arrived on her Typhoon named "Norma Jean", AKA Marilyn Monroe. She had with her two beautiful crew members, Christine and Kappy. Jo is a very fearless captain who refuses to use her outboard unless she is about to hit another yacht. And then she asks how to start the damn thing.
Mike Dever and his crew/wife Bethany arrived on "Ceajem", a CD 28. They previously owned a typhoon and have moved up to a CD 28. They have sailed much of Lake Champlain and love Cape Dories.
Doug and Laurie Jesseman hosted this event on their Cape Dory 36, named "Free Spirit". Laurie was the hostess with the mostess providing Dark and Stormies to all. She learned how to make these famous drinks from Leo and Ruth McDonald to whom we are all very thankful.
Thank you for all attending and see you next year. Fair Winds Always, Doug.

Thanks Doug for organizing this event. It was great fun and a beautiful spot. The "ride" up the Lake on Saturday was exhilarating with a lovely westerly wind of about 15-17kts providing a beam reach the whole way. Free Spirit provides a great platform for relaxing and enjoying Dark and Stormies.

I have attached a couple of pictures of Charisma and Free Spirit.

Bill, I don't really remember what I said or did but it must have been good. I'm glad this finds you sailing a Cape Dory still. Thanks
