I need a new main in a bad way, seems like a good time. North sails has a nice promotion on in Chesapeake land, 20% off and a donation to Chesapeake Bay Trust for a new sail order.
My question on configuration is full batten or leach battens? North is suggesting one full batten 3 leach battens. Sounds like a good solution to me. Anyone care to comment or relate experiences with similar sized Cape Dory?
Thanks in advance,
And, sorry to be too lazy to search prior posts on this classic topic.
Cheers!

I like my full batten with Mack pack. Takes a bit of practice to avoid catching batten in lazy jack lines when raising sail, but worth it for quick and easy furling and good performance

I like my North Sails main with two full length top battens and two lower standard battens.
EDIT: Forgot to mention it's loose footed.

Re: New Mainsail Configuration CD31
This is pretty sophisticated stuff - way out of the league of one who considers it fortunate to simply have all battens on hand when the sail is bent on in the spring. I've got one full batten and three leech battens of varying lengths - but I don't know why. I'd appreciate hearing from respondents to this query what performance benefits they consider to be the result of a given mainsail configuration. Jim.

An article from Cruising World that should answer most questions.

My vote is for full batten loose foot with lazy jacks and cradle style cover.

North Sails is recommending one full batten, top I think, three leach battens. I've never had a problem handling this mainsail so not planning on lazy jacks. I'll seal the deal next week.
