CD 25D/26D Trailering Weight

Post by Brian Johnson »

Does anyone have a CD 26D on a trailer who has had it weighed? I have seen a large range of numbers for CD 25D weights and I am trying to draw a parallel to the weight of a CD 26D. I am concerned about the towing capacity required to move a CD 26D on a trailer. I do not have a trailer(yet) and only have access to a Ford Expedition with a rated towing capacity of about 6500 lbs. The CD 25D weights listed in the specifications section of this web page and reports from owners including the weight of fuel, gear, and the trailer are different by about a ton. I am not sure what the addition of the Diesel engine does to the advertised displacement weight of the CD 26 nor do I know what the difference between CD 25D and CD 26D weights are. Any information will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this helps, but....

My CD27 fitted out for cruising (less groceries and dinghy) tipped in at approx 10,900 lbs with a steel trailer on a truck scale. The trailer goes right at 2150 lbs so doing the math shows a 7500lb displacement boat weighing 8750 lbs. Moral: Displacement specs don't include much gear, fluids etc. (yes we do sail with a good bit of stuff)
