yet another leaky window problem, CD 28 power

Post by Bill Stebbins »

Front center window leaking. Rubber gasket had flattened out and was my prime suspect. Sent for replacement from Florida Marine Tanks. Inserted gasket. Looks the right size but now window does not close. Does gasket need pretreatment? Did I go the the right place (recommended by Spartan Marine)? Are their subtle variations in gasket size to the trained eye? Is there a better alternative? Should I begin by taking the window apart as Walt B. suggests and replace the caulking first? Help!

After many hours of searching I found the correct gasket fot this window and it works perfectly. I found it at SPS Home Centers & True Value, 657 NE Dixie highway, Jensen Beach, FL Phone: 561-334-2700. I don't have a part number but perhaps if you describe the gasket (soft black plastic, 1/4" diameter, hollow tube with a tee shaped extrusion to fit into a groove. It comes in a bulk roll, about 10 cents a foot. When I installed it, there were no more leaks.
Good Luck,
