Avanti returning home after one year of cruising

Hi All,

Avanti and Crew have returned home after thirteen months of cruising. We visited Bermuda, the Bahamas, and a majority of the east coast from Maine to Florida. Our little CD28 sure has been a trooper!

Congratulations on completing your cruise. I am just getting started on reading your blog. It sounds like you had a great time, and it is a beautiful job of writing. Everyone who reads this board needs to read your logbook. That is the kind of cruising that Cape Dories were built for.

Welcome home. Sorry I didn't get to this sooner. I started a message and saved it to eternal draft.

It sounds like you the adventure of a life time. I could sympathize with a few of the entries in your log. The wetness is the very worst part of taking our little boats offshore. Those days when everything is wet or damp at best. And by days, I mean multitudes of them. I still think the windless days are worse.

I still have a few more entries to read but the crossing descriptions were great. I would love to hear more details about how things were in the islands. Fees, supplies, fuel, water, anchorages? I am sure all of this could be found in cruising guides but it is so much more interesting to hear first hand from someone in a similar boat.

After such a grand adventure and so much time away from a home base, what is next?

You guys did a great job and the fact that you still seem to like each other is also a major accomplishment, Steve.
