Re: Will a Cape Dory Balance on Its Keel?
Last time I hauled out in Bellingham the forward strap was uneven, and when they set me down to block up the bow went down and the back of keel was a foot in the air before the operator corrected it. I do not know that if he had not caught it it might have leveled off, but with the speed and acceleration that she was rocking forward I think she would of nosed down. The front strap was tight and rear strap loose and bow was going down and the keel was on the ground.

Re: Will a Cape Dory Balance on Its Keel?
This is an interesting discussion, even without the beer thing, although that draws interest. I took this photo at the Port of Arromanches years ago while my wife and I had lunch on the Quai and watched the tide run out. The keel-fishing boat leaned over and sat still for the photo. I guess it is just not something we all are used to seeing at our local yacht clubs but at Arromanches as in other places, it is an everyday occurrence. Enjoy-
