Sink fawcett in my 22 is not sucking water out of tank
I use environmentally safe antifreeze in my fresh water tank during the Winter. Now after 2 seasons the fawcett will not pump the water out into the sink. Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks,

Re: Sink fawcett in my 22 is not sucking water out of tank
I have been having the same issue with the faucet in the head. Have had for several years and I just didn't want to face it. At first I thought it was a faulty check valve I had placed in the line several years go so I replaced the valve. No change.
So I took the faucet off the sink and was going to replace it when I discovered a "hairline" crack on the bottom. The crack was in a location that could not be seen without removing the faucet. So I thought I would try and "jury rig" a repair using super glue. Viola! it worked! At least for a little while.
Later I had reason to remove the faucet again and alas in the process I opened up the crack again. I'll try the super glue trick again, but am not too sure it will work the second time.
Moral of the story, check your faucet (the line and anything else within that system) for leaks/cracks. Any source that might be letting air into the line.
Your mileage may vary. Fair Winds.

The "anything else in the system" would include any filters or strainers. They will not let air in but they might not let water throughbarfwinkle wrote:Moral of the story, check your faucet (the line and anything else within that system) for leaks/cracks. I thought I had a bad pump on Raven last year which turned out to be a completely clogged charcoal filter which I probably should have taken out before I winterized the system, Steve.

Most likely seals on the sink faucet are bad. Sometimes one can place your forefinger partially over the faucet opening while pumping to prime the pumping action and "lubicate" the seals.

Thanks for the replies. I looked at the fawcett, unscrewed the top and the washer between is cracked and broken. Maybe replacing this will help. No cracks anywhere else though.

If your galley pump is a Jabsco Topsider Model 37220-1010 then the following seal replacement kit worked for me. Now discontinued The seals may be BUNA-N instead of Viton for chemical resistance.

Thanks. Before spending the now 24.95, I will inspect connections. Otherwise I will buy the kit.

I had the same problem two years ago. Cleaning the screen on the facet solved the problem. Start with the easy stuff first.
