Ken,
What awful news! I hope you'll be able to find a new boat, perhaps even a Cape Dory.

gone!!!

I too extend my condolences to Ken for his misfortune on a boat that he clearly put a lot of time, thought, and energy into. I would also like to offer a huge THANK YOU to Ken for his willingness to both sell her to me and to support my million and one questions.

As the next owner and care taker of Ken's Parfait, I first plan to replace the toasted control panel and electrical panel, as well as get the bilge pump(s) back in working condition and clean the boat. I may never get the smoke smell completely out, but the way I figure it, an older boat usually smells like diesel, holding tank, and/or bilge. Smoke is just another smell of similar significance. I'll reduce and control it as much as possible.

My objective is to have her sailing by mid August. I'll start a new message to post pics and show the progress for those that are interested.

Ken,

I had no idea. All I can offer are words of sorrow for how I feel. It certainly has been a tragic year in many ways for you.

Best regards,
