At my last bottom cleaning my diver noticed my hull zinc on my CD-33 was hanging on by one bolt that also had a wire to the shaft log area. It appears two bolts had backed out and were missing and the third bolt had broken off. The entire zinc was very close to becoming a disaster in the prop. Is this a common zinc set up on CD's or even necessary with a prop zinc? Over the period of one year from my last haul out this zinc had very little electrolysis while the prop zinc was just about gone.

Re: hull zinc
Hi Larry,
It sounds like what your describing is not a zinc but the grounding plate. All the stays and thru hulls should be wired to it. If you look in the bilge you should see the back of it and the wire that are attached. It should be reattached.

Re: grounding plate
Hi Jerry,
You may be correct as I know I have a dynaplate and a hull zinc.
I will check the template for the hull zinc and see if it matches what was taken off to narrow down the problem.
Thanks,
Larry
