Friends,
I came across a 1977 Cape Dory 28 for sale in Key West for $3,500. The owner insists she is a very solid boat; he has consistently reduced the price because he is no longer in Florida and is paying yard fees. I would consider taking a closer look at her myself but simply can't afford a bigger boat (I have a 4 month old baby at home and limited resources that prohibit repairs, slip fees, etc.). I'm posting this FYI; I have no interest in the sale of this boat and cannot speak to her actual condition.

Here is what I know about her from talking with Carlo, the owner:
- The boat has been (and still is) on the hard for a long time
- 18 hp Yanmar in very good condition (put in by prior owner)
- recently replaced and moved chainplates to outer hull
- new solid brass thru hulls
- new forestay & backing plate
- new hull-deck join
- stripped and refinished hull (calls hull "spotless" and very sound, no blisters whatsoever)
- refinished/replaced rudder
- new cutlass bearing, packing gland
- cockpit floor soft; removed and replaced
- recently overhauled engine
- new motor mount
- Sails (newer sails - only two seasons)
- Main
- Jib
- storm sail
- Extra pair of sails for larger boat (with this one) but could be cut down or sold
To Do Still:
- Needs new running rigging
- Wood on deck needs sanding and varnishing (esp. toe rail)
- Replace original electric
