Columbria 24 Contender vs CD Typhoon

Post by ronkberg »

Does anyone know the sailing characteristics of the Columbria Contender and would it be a good upgrade from my Typhoon? The hull lines are similar to the Alberg designs but the keel does not look as substantial. Saw one close to my home and can be had at a bargain price but I need some feedback from the sailors on this site who I trust.

Thanks, Ron

Ron. Most of columbia's designs were drawn by bill Tripp and quite successful. The 22 was a crealock design. Any idea who the n.a. Is on the24?

Hi Pete, need to get your explanation of "who the n.a. Is on the24?". What is "n.a."?

Have any idea how they sail? Looks to be beamier than CD22 and CD25. Does that mean anything? The keel does not look as long or as deep as the CD's and I wonder if that means it would not be as stable as the CD when heeled.
