John,
I just signed on to ask the exact same question since yesterday I signed a winter storage contract with my yard. So I too would like to know the pros and cons of shrink wrap over the good old blue poly tarp. I don't know about John, but my CD27 will be stored with the mast stepped this year. Does that make any difference?

MIRANDA was shrinked wrapped for a winter up in Newport. Best 120 dollars I every spent. SHe came out the next spring looking great. Everything was dry and no damage.

I prefer a good canvas tarp. Blue Polly is often in tatters by spring, ditto shrink wrap. I paid $200 for a 20' by 30' tarp 4 winters ago. The tarp looks good for another 3 or 4 years.

Did the mast remain up? If so, how effective was the skrink wrap
around the mast and standing rigging?

Mike, I had the mast taken off. It made a pretty good support the length of the boat. I had it resting on the pulpit and aft safety rail.

I did it mast up... it's not easy to get a seal around the mast and rigging, and there's some cutting and pasting of the plastic sheeting. Water will get in, down the mast, stays, etc. But it keeps the snow off, and especially keeps the cockpit from filling with snow, melting, freezing, etc., etc.

Somehow, the boat didn't stay clean under the shrink wrap... there was lots of dust and grime anyway... but that may be from sitting for a month or so before the shrink wrap went on.

I'm shrinking it again this year, problably with the mast up.
