I have a remote control unit for Autohelm which I purchased at Ocean Outfitters in Maryland for $40. It doesn not fit my Autohelm 1000. It has a 5 pin connector on the end of the wire. The hand held unit duplicates the controls on the Autohelm. The tag says that it works with the AH2000 or AH3000 before 1986. Since alot of us Cape Dory owners have Autohelm, I thought I would offer it here before putting it on ebay.

In case anyone wants to know the handheld remote control unit number for a Autohelm model 6000 (older) is a Z027.
As John said the number on the ID plate will indicate which models it is compatible with. I wouldn't go by a tag hanging on it.
