Horizon fixed mount radio. With Mic. Works. Upgrading boat to new DSC radio. Can easily deliver to Hawthorne Cove Marina in Salem MA., but currently located in S. NH.

I also up graded radios but keep the old one on board with quick connectors on both. If anything should ever happen to the new one I can quickly switch it out for the still functioning old one. I keep an emergency antenna right with the old radio so I have a complete system if anything should fail. There is also a hand held so this might be belt suspenders and ??? You might be better off with a really good six pack of beer but it is something to consider, Steve.

You have a good point. But, I am happy with a new VHF radio, handheld back-up VHF and the wife's cell phone aboard.

When I upgraded I hard wired the old radio in my cabin near the boat. Haf an old antenna from somewhere It's good for checking the weather or just listening to the chatter on the water, cost guard announcements, etc.
