Have folks out there found Valvtect Marine Gasoline to be any better then regular car gas in your outboard? Their website says:
ValvTect Marine Gasoline is "specially formulated" for marine engines and is designed to prevent the problems of ethanol gasoline, such as phase separation, moisture, poor stability and the formation of power-robbing carbon deposits.
It does not say that Valvtect is ethanol-free. (Those are their quotation marks, not mine, btw. They give me a little chuckle.)
Like last season, I am starting out with a recalcitrant outboard.

Re: ValvTect Marine Gasoline
I may be wrong but I think that they just add in the Valvtect Ethanol Gas Treatment into the gas.
Says "08 oz. bottle treats 60 gallons of gasoline. 12 oz. bottle treats 120 gallons of gasoline."
Yeah, I know, the math doesn't make sense.

You may also want to check with marinas in your area to see if any sell regular gasoline with no ethanol added.
When I had S/V Tadpole, I would buy gas at the local Shell station. It contained 10% ethanol. It caused all kinds of problems with my 4 stroke/6 hp Suzuki O/B - damage to rubber fuel lines, clogged injector nozzle, gummed up carburetor, etc.
I went to the the marina next to the sailing club and talked with the manager. He told me they buy and sell only regular gas with no ethanol. I redid the engine - new hoses, rebuild carb., etc. and started using this gas from the marina. Not one single engine issue again. When I sold S/V Tadpole I made sure to tell the new caretaker about using only non-ethanol gas.
I am betting there is a marina near you that sells non-ethanol gas. I would still add a protective chemical such as Stratron or similar.
Good luck

Re: ValvTect Marine Gasoline
This new formulation for gasoline is nothing but a pain in the ass for small engines, be it outboards or lawnmowers.
I haven't been able to find non-ethanol gas anywhere in small quantities. The local airport has it but won't sell less than 10 gals.

Up here we use hi octaine for outboard motors. The regular gas was bad enough even worse since they started to adding ethanol.
I have an old motor that works quite well on the higher octaine. Still use the same mix ratio.
Also was able to get a Sall magazine yesterday great story glad I could was able to help.

As you know, I am not very computer literate. I think the following is a website that lists places that dispense ethanol-free gasoline in Maine.
http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=ME
I narrowed the search to just Maine. I am not sure where you keep your Cape Dory. If you go to the beginning of the website it will let you search for ethanol-free gas stations in all states.
http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp
I am not sure how up-to-date the lists are so you may want to call first.
The place I used to use for ethanol-free gas is listed under the Florida category.
