New Mailsail Question for Typhoon

Re: New Mailsail Question for Typhoon
Don,
Here's <a href=http://www.toolworks.com/cgi-bin/tw/wwb ... i?cd&13944> my post on this topic </a> from last spring.
The only thing to add is that I found I needed a new sail cover, too. The old one just wouldn't go round the crisp folds of the new sail.
The full top batten is no problem: when gibing, I find it best to wait for the batten to go through before paying out the sheet on the new jibe. However, it is showing signs of chafe after only about 50 tacks/gibes.
Regards,
Richard.

Re: New Mailsail Question for Typhoon
I just bought a Ty last week. Sobstad in cleveland quoted $555. The Dacron is high thread count with less sizing. It will also have one deep reef point. Sobstad makes great mains. We bought a class racing main for the S2 7.9 I race on and it sails fast.Don Craig wrote: Any experience/recommendations/prices on new mains for the Typhoon? Try Johnson Sails in St. Pete FL. They seem to do good work, but I haven't priced them for Typhoon sails.
