FREE: 1970 Typhoon Weekender - Toms River NJ

I won an auction for 2 Typhoons in NJ. A Daysailer and a Weekender all in one auction.

I really wanted the Daysailer rather than the Weekender for a couple of reasons, the least of which being that I bought yet another Weekender prior to bidding on the auction.

While I have stated on a few posts that a guy cannot have too many Cape Dorys (or would Dori be plural for Dory?), I think I may be mistaken on that. I need to pass on one. It takes a strong swimmer to sail 3 Typhoons at once

If anyone wants a Weekender, please let me know. I will all but give away the Weekender in NJ, (less a winch) rather than move it to Virginia. It is a 1970. I have yet to see her, but the pictures indicate a lot of dirt, a paint peeling problem at the waterline that looks to be mostly cosmetic and the same on the interior. Some elbow grease, new shrouds and a winch and she should be ready to go (but again, I have yet to see her).

Make me an offer. Must be willing to move it quickly, preferably the weekend of May 5th.

The hull is #57 and in very sound shape. The motor mount, mast, mainsail, boom, boom cover, interior and exterior cushions as well as cradle would all be included.

The interior while very dirty will clean up with some elbow grease.

The main concern to anyone that is interested are 2 soft spots; the rear deck as well as an area on the port side of the fore deck around the access port (Doh - stupid access ports. They are more problem than they are worth because they are rarely installed right making an easy path for water to get to the balsa core). It is also missing a winch (not really needed on a Typhoon) and will need some shrouds. The mainsail is in respectable shape.

This boat would be an easy repair, particularly for the price... and that price is free (OBO if they start streaming in ).

My reason for not wanting the Weekender: As noted above, I won an auction that included two Typhoons but I really only wanted the Daysailer. I already have another Weekender.

If anyone is interested, please let me know. We only have a few weeks to move it from its present location. I will help load it onto a trailer (now that I know how to do it - more on that here http://www.capedory.org/board/viewtopic ... 44#p161399) as long as I can cover my expenses from VA.

I am happy to report that the NJ Weekender has been adopted by a very capable and enthusiastic Captain. Hull 57 is in good hands.
