I know that I did not cash it; however, "senior moments" are not unknown around here. If I did cash it, the bank cashing the check would be "Delta National" in California. As I haven't heard from you, I presume you've also lost the $10,000 check I sent you for the extra-large bag of burgees. My accountant requests that you remit the $10,000 in cash immediately, since we are about to leave for an extended vacation in Rio and--oh heck, hang on, she just spilled another bottle of champagne on her new miniskirt--there, that's better. As I was saying, we're on our way to Rio de Janeiro where our Cape Dory 66 is moored and ... hold it, there's someone banging on the door ... my god, it's the taxi already. Just send the money care of the Club de Yates, Butafogo Bay, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, okay? And no excuses about "senior moments" please.

If it is the same person, your existence on this board explains the good representation of Alberg designed boats, but the Cal still seemed out of place. I enjoyed the book, found it informative and fun to read.

Yes, same person. The Cal 20 wasn't out of place. It has crossed the Atlantic. It has crossed the Pacific. Smaller boats have sailed around the world. It earned its place in the book. I won't say more because this is not the correct forum--but thanks for buying my book.

You're right, Walt. He didn't say he bought it. I was so excited at the thought of my $1.95 royalty that I jumped to a conclusion. And as for the $10,000, for some reason they haven't sent it yet. Are all Cape Dory owners this slow?

Rest at ease, you can make that downpayment on the Mercedes. I bought it. I try to check out novels and buy reference books. I still don't feel the Cal is in the same category as the other boats. I know, I know this isn't the forum and you are the one that has done the research. Let's not talk about it any more. (My wife always says that when she wants the last word.) Once again, nice book.
I recently reprinted your "Nondenominational Renaming Ceremony" for someone that I sold an O'day 27 to. He scoffed and refused to use it. Last year, with his old boat he sailed weekly, this year he had alot of problems with the motor (heh, I brokered the damn thing, I didn't guarantee it) and never got the new boat launched until mid season. Since then, there were various problems on the home front and has only been out once, but that once was spectaculor. His wife was at the helm and he was being captian. She managed to bounce off of two other boats on the way out. The wind came up and they felt uncomfortable sailing so they came back in. Unfortunately, that motor problem came back and they needed to sail into an endtie slip with the wind behind them and a very pretty sailboat ahead of them. Half of the population of Nebraska (8), caught them and they landed in fairly good shape. The old name was Dulcinea and the new is Blue Heaven. Since I don't like either one, I would have left it as it was.

They like to be fussed over and placated with soothing, flattering words and good strong wine, just like your wife when you forget her birthday. It's quite safe to rename a boat if you do the de-naming ceremony first, but it's folly to skip it. Blue Heaven might turn out to be Blue Hell if he doesn't act quickly.
