Paul,
Welcome aboard. I started with a Cape Dory 27 and now have a 32. You have found the most informative, helpful, supportive and good-natured owner's group anywhere, online or off. In fact, it was research online back in 1998 that caused me to rule out any other brand of boat from my search, because I realized having this resource was even better than having a factory customer service department to consult.
Fair winds,
Bill Goldsmith

Hello & Welcome to the Cape Dory World! We have the same boat, also the chain plate problem made of steel. We cut them out re fiber glassed to fill the "hole" & Reinforce the hull. We talked about doing internal... but went external. They look lovely. We will be starting on the deck declamation in the next few weeks. If we can be any help just ask.
I started a blog after the fact & have not gotten back to it... One of these days!
