Original Owners Poll

Post by barfwinkle »

Good Morning

I just noticed a post on the BB by an individual who is the original owner of a 1986 CD. How many others are there?

An ALMOST new owner

Post by Oswego John »

I bought a Ty from a person who bought new and then got transferred to a new location and didn't want the headache of bringing the boat with him..

Sailing didn't prove to be as much fun for him that he originally thought it might be. I volunteered to ease his mental burden by taking the boat off his hands. His loss was my gain.

Neil as an after thought I wanted to add a choice of 4th or greater but didn't want to mess with those that had already responded.

Bill,

When I sailed into Fly Creek for the 2011 annual meeting it was almost thirty years to the day since I had sailed out of there in my brand new CD25D, hull # 005 in November of 1981. Although I mostly sail my 30B now, I still own the 25 because down here in the Central Gulf Fleet we believe that you can never own too many Cape Dories. It never hurts to have a spare.

Merry Christmas To All

At least three owners

Post by Joe Myerson »

From the documentation for the boat that is now Creme Brulee, I know that she had at least two previous owners.

Were there any others?

That I don't know.

Owners Poll

Like Neil, I'm the 4th owner of my CD 28, Hull #319.
To add to the discussion, does anyone have any records of what these beauties cost when new?
Merry Christmas and great sailing in 2012!

Documentation Help

Post by tjr818 »

I believe that my wife and I are the third owner of CD27 #185. I am trying to find out the history so I can get her documented. She used to be Leprechaun, out of Chicago. If anyone knows more of her history, I'd love to hear about it.

A Little Off The Subject

Post by Oswego John »

Hi Tim,

Maybe a little bit off subject

I wonder how many of the readers know the meaning of the name of your boat, Slainte?

I sure do. ;>)

I think Sea Hunt must know. I hear that he keeps Guinness aboard.

4th+, which is probably about normal.

Secondary question- how long do people keep a boat? I'm guessing 6-8 years on average.

Guppy, ex Haven, unknown before that. Records were poorly kept by the two P.O.s

4th owner

Post by Ldybg »

I'm the 4th, but I believe the longest at 12 years for CD28 #125. The first two owners held her for about 9-10 years each.
With one in college now and one more to go, I don't think we'll upgrade any time soon.
