Inside the thermostat housing of my md11c, the port below the opening to the exhaust manifold appears to be welded shut? On my old md2b this was open and had an O ring around it. Anyone have any experience with this?

Tom,
My mdllc has no port welded shut on it.
perhaps it was a modification from the former owner of the engine or a repair of some sort.

guesss what-i have noticed the same thing on my md11-I have a heat exchanger and a "T" comes out from the block-with one hose terminating at this blocked inlet to the thermostat housing-why I do not know-it might have something to do with expansion of the water when it gets hot but it makes no difference in how the system operates-any further info from anyone would be appreciated-tom wrote: Inside the thermostat housing of my md11c, the port below the opening to the exhaust manifold appears to be welded shut?
