Comparison with Potter

Last year I sold a 19 foot West Wright Potter and am interested in a higher performance boat. Would the Cape Dory,in this same size or a little larger, fill the bill? Also, how easy is it to launch this boat from a ramp?

in the same size, the typhoon would not necessarily offer more speed, but it sure would offer more stability and the comfort in sailing in winds up to 30 knots without all those white knuckles.
as for launching from a ramp the key is in having a good trailer with either rollers or pads, some form of keel support and a tongue extension. however, if you have a short or lousy ramp not even the best trailer is going to help.

We took our Typhoon to the lake yesterday for the first time and had no trouble with the launch or recovery. The key for us was the 9' extension for the tongue of the trailer. The wheels of the tow vehicle weren't even wet. She went on eaiser than our Hobie 16.

I dont think the cd is higher performance in phrf..but how do you rate performance?
I have raced alot more comfortably in my cd27 than comparble hunters,catalinas etc.
looks? absolute classic lines/beauty
below deck style and design
resale value?
ability to handle the weather?
construction?

oohs and ahhs from admrirers (sp)? as you sail in your area?

it must be in a typhooner's blood - i've got a hobie 16 also, pulled it out of the neighbor's woods and refurbished for very little money
(he gave it to me to get it out of his yard, the sails, rigging, etc. were kept in his garage nice and dry and in good shape). also have a laser and a windsurfer. when i feel a need for speed you know where i go; when i'm ready to chill-out my ty is the vehicle.
