CD 25 Cabin floor question
In the cabin of my CD25, there is a teak floor board that lifts to view the bilge. Around the teak board the floor when I step on it seems to give slightly. Is this common? Should there be wood supporting the floor underneath? Should I be worried about this?
A bit of give is OK
First check to make sure the flange the board sits on isn't cracked or broken.
If you are worried about it you could reinforce it with strips of wood. If you do I would recommend doing it along the short ends of the opening. Carefully cut the molded flange out and epoxy and bolt 1x 3 strips in to replace the removed flange material. These strips should be as long as you can fit and only extend into the opening about the same as the removed flange. You will have to sand the underside of the sole (floor) to get a good bond.
Almost any wood can be used and make sure you use washers under the nuts.
