CD 28' holding tank suggestions

Post by Mike »

In own a 1978 CD 28'with a direct discharge head and want to add a holding tank. Anyone with experienced suggestions for locations and sizes would be greatly appreciated. As we know, space is pretty limited. Looks like a custom built tank aft of the v-berth water tank, or giving up the port drawers and lower storage are options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike:

In my 1979 Cape Dory 28, the holding tank is under the V Berth! And, I believe it is fourteen gallons. The previous owner had one installed two years ago as the old one was leaking around the inspection plate-so they are available.

The water tanks (fifteen gallon each) are installed under the seats in the salon (love that word!)In mine, I took out one of the tanks as we are within easy reach of water in the northwest and converted it to storage with two additional "doors" for access.

Mike, I put a Nauta flexible tank which holds around 14 gallons in the area you are talking about right aft of the bow water tank. This way I got to keep the drawers. Any questions don't hesitate to ask
