Cape Dory Typhoon - is there an equal today?
Over 20 years ago I wanted a Cape Dory Typhoon badly.
Never got one, still want one today . . .
1. Does anybody make a boat based on that design today.
2. What is a mint condition Typhoon worth today?

Thanks in advance,
Steve in Louisiana

Nauset Marine had the molds and was building Typhoons in 1995. I remember seeing one at a Boston boat show, and I couldn't tell the difference. They were listed at $16,000 with cushions and a trailer. I don't know if they still make them.

I still have the sales flyer from that show that lists their address as Rt 6A, Box 357, Orleans, Cape Cod, MA 02653. The number is (was?) (508) 255-0777. Fax (508) 255-3906,

On the last day of the Chesapeake fleet (of CDSOA) summer cruise, we stayed at a marina at Tilghman's Island. The boatyard finds and restores Typhoons. There was a lovely robin egg blue Typhoon on the hard. The restoration was beautiful. The boatyard apparently does a steady business. If you are interested, let me know (at the above e-mail address) and I'll lookup the name of the boatyard and [hone number.

mitchell,

is that marina on the mainland, behind the restaurant right there at the new bridge that crosses Knapps Narrows? i saw an early 70's ty there in a cradle two octobers ago that looked like it was being aggressively worked on.
there was an old wooden sloop in the far corner too - real bad shape but it had terrific lines and was very narrow. must have been a beauty in its day.
