Interesting question. Some folks might argue it is the convenience offered by fuller systems. Others might say it is the safety equipment which we all hope to never need but whose value is not measurable should we need it. Yet others might mention the advancements of onboard amenities or electronics. I would have to say the most valuable thing aboard my CD are the memories which I can take to shore. The thoughts of my son’s smiling face, my wife’s hair blowing in the breeze, or the gentle rocking of the deck under my foot. These are the thinks which I find most valuable. These are the thinks which get me through a week in the office.

So perhaps I have digressed slightly from your original question. The most valuable thing aboard my CD? The crew.
