Does anyone have the part # for the engine fuel filter on an MD7A? I'm looking for a source and also a possible cross-reference in case I can avoid the high cost of Volvo parts. Many thanks,

No need for high the cost of the Volvo name. Go to your local NAPA dealer.

MD7A Engine-mounted fuel filter
I use a NAPA water-separating fuel filter - #3472. It has a little plastic knob on the bottom to unscrew and let out any water. Not too expensive... I think maybe $9.

For Volvo parts I was extremely pleased with McDonnel Marine of Bloomfield, Ct. pho. 860-243-9114. Paul answers the pho. there and he has all the part #s and is extremely helpful.
While I agree in general that Napa replacements are a reasonable and cost effective replacement, if the manufacturers part is in the ball park I will opt for it. In looking at my Perkins manual I see that they claim their oil filters have a bypass if the pressure becomes too high so that the engine does not run without lub. I doubt that the Napa replacements have that. I have also experienced problems with air in fuel lines that may have been the result of using non original mfg. parts.
