Hi,
Have a Cape Dory 300 MS (Consort) and am trying to replace the emergency tiller. Apparently the previous owner let it drop over the side after it rusted badly. A picture, drawing or description of the original would be much appreciated.
Best Regards
John

John, I have an emergency tiller for my CD-30 in Noank. I will be down there next Thursday and Friday if you might be able to meet me you are welcome to try it to see if it fits and take any measurements or drawings that might help you.
I finally got tired of painting the thing every year to keep it from rusting. I cut the original handle off of it and turned and oak one so I can break it down. It now lives in it's own clips safe and dry inside my emergency locker. Formerly the hanging locker in the head.
If I ever do need it the handle will have a nice feel, Steve.

John,
When I bought my MS 300 she was also with out the emergency tiler. I had one made at the PO's yard. It was welded together out of aluminium. Unfortunately I won't be up to the boat until May when she is launched to take any pictures. I'm just north of Philly. If you still need them in May let me know.
Joe
PS It's nice to see a topic on the MS 300. Hope you enjoy yours like I enjoy mine. There is only 46 - 47 of us.

Thanks Joe,
Yes we love the boat. Actually bought it in Maine a couple of years back. It's in Florida now and I'm flying down on April 7th to start the return trip. Will do it in two parts. Florida to Hampton Rds VA and then in June from Hampton Rds to Mystic CT. Hoping to go directly from Hampton Rds to Block Island and then into Mystic if we can get a good weather window.
Since I won't have the boat at home for work until late June I would love to see a photo of your emergency tiller.
Best Regards
