going on 5 years in fresh water. scrape with a squeegee a couple times a year, so far so good...

Others have commented on the look as we sail with the rail buried.

Most Cape Dory's came with brown or red bottoms, I think. I use blue ablative to contrast. with the brown. When the brown shows through or the blue looks patchy, I recover it. The only part I paint every year is near the waterline. Remember, the ablative paint is supposed to wear away. If the film looks thick, you don't have to paint.

It's worked for me.
