Hi All,
My wife & I purchased Side Pocket CD28 #125 in November '99, renamed to her original "Ladybug" (with help from our 6 yr old daughter). The boat had been winter stored in Sea Bright, NJ. Our mooring is in Perth Amboy, NJ approx. 18 nm across Sandy Hook and Raritan Bays. The yard launched her before I was completely ready (poor communication on my part) and I only had a small window to move her. So this past Tuesday AM was our time to go. In a rush to finish what was needed, we where not able to rig the sails, so "a motoring we will go". "How well or long will the engine run?
Two bridges to pass under before the open bays, a very overcast day with wind from the east and hardly anyone out except the clammers made an interesting first trip. My brother (a fisherman, not a sailor)who made the delivery with me commented on how he forgot how slow a sailboat was, but also commented how comfortable they are and took a nap.
3 1/2 hours later we were on our mooring. No problems, everything worked as it should.
This bulletin board has been a great help, thanks,
One happy CD owner still looking forward to that first sail!
