Sanitation Hose
To all:
I went through the CD board search process to look up replacing the smelly old head hoses and have questions for those who have done the job.
Most of you suggested to, "get the good stuff" and the white hose is stiffer then the black hose.
So my question is, what brand is the "good stuff" and the most flexable to work with?
I figure on replacing the vent hose and the pump out hose but on Mariah, the head is connected to a white pvc pipe that runs under the cockpit sole. There are two short sections of black hose that connects the head to the pipe and the pipe to the holding tank. Is this a normal setup for CD36s? Should these hoses be replaced as well?
Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Re: Sanitation Hose
Vetus sanitation hose, dont get anything else. Its as easy to work with as non sanitation hose while still being an odor free hose. Having at various points used all the different options available, I wont use anything but Vetus again.John Danicic wrote:

Oh and the PVC, yes that is normal, mine had that as well. You would have to rip up your cabin sole to get to it and replace it though. I recommend leaving it there unless you are also doing a fuel tank replacement or cabin sole replacement anyway. I replaced my cabin sole and changed that PVC over to proper sanitation hose while I was at it.

Well...
Peggy Hall, the "Head Mistress", who wrote the book Get Rid of Boat Odors, on boat odors and who has been the industry guru/ expert for over 20 years on this subject says Trident 101/102 are the best. I back her in that assessment. In over 15 years on the market there have been no documented cases of odor permeation of Trident 101/102. The only difference is color one is black & one is white.
She also suggests Shields or Trident 148 for sizes below 1"..

sanitation hose
I have a '33 and changed all sanitation hose. Vent, raw water intake, overboard and to and from holding tank. Used the white. The head had a order, but is now fresh as a daisey.
One recommendation.. measure the whole job, go online and buy the hose. I bought it a couple of pieces at a time retail. Very expensive way to go.
Finally caught on buying quality clamps. Now go the bulk route
I found the white hose is much easier to work with then the black. Watch the hair dryer, to much can weaken the hose.

By all means keep the PVC; you'll never have to worry about that section.

John,
I put Trident in LaVida maybe 12 years ago and not a wisp of odor from it.
I'd go with the Trident.
