2004 Compass/Cape Dory 18 Hurricane on Ebay. What???

Was browsing Ebay today and saw a listing that had me shaking my head in confusion. 2004 Compass/Cape Dory 18 Hurricane.
Cape Dory has a Hurricane?

I looked at the listing on eBay (here's the link]. Here's part of what it says:

...2004 Compass Hurricane is a classic redesign of the popular Cape Dory Typhoon. The boat which has been redesigned by Compass Classic Yachts, eliminated the keel, and added a swing centerboard...

It's also gaff-rigged, so major changes all around.

I googled Compass Classic Yachts, and found a website that says, in part:

...After a fifty year career of designing and building full size fiberglass sailboats, I have turned my attention to my other interest Model Building...I have molds and have built models for the Rainbow, Classic Cat, Baybird and Hurricane, my former Compass Classic Yacht fleet.

I don't think it is accurate to call this boat a Cape Dory, though. It isn't, it wasn't built by Cape Dory, and it is very different from the Alberg Typhoon that Cape Dory did build. You'll notice in the eBay listing that the Herreshoff 12 1/2 is also mentioned, which is an even more inaccurate reference.

Neat boat, looks beautiful, and sort of an interesting story, though.
